T-Rex

So super excited as today I was lucky enough to eat at the T-Rex cafe at Downtown Disney. The restaurant is very well themed (unfortunately Disney does not own the cafe. Same with Rainforest Cafe and the Yak and Yeti at Animal Kingdom). Travel back 200 million years for a Jurassic adventure and megalosaurus-sized eats. Squawking pterosaurs, wooly mammoths, a massive undulating octopus and life-sized animatronic dinosaurs—including a 15-foot-tall T. Rex—make for a roaring good time. With themed rooms depicting diverse primordial landscapes from a color-changing ice cavern to a fern forest buzzing with giant wasps, you can spend ages wandering from area to area.
My new Muppet Vision shirt (do you guys get the vision part????)!
Unlike some of my other reservations I didn't have to wait to be seated and they even asked where I would prefer to sit! I feel like it helped that I went at 1:30pm on a Tuesday.

Outside the T-REX Cafe at Downtown Disney

A dinosaur tops the building

The inside of the building is amazing. They have a souvenir shop selling the coolest dinosaur things (I was very very tempted to buy things but I know I'll have time for that later) as well as a Build Your Own Dinosaur! (kind of like the Build-A-Bear stores)

He roars as you enter the restaurant

The shop

Underwater room (it is also where the bar is)

I got to sit next to the Mammoth

Pterodactyl

Ice Age room

Every 20 minutes you can watch a meteor shower (the dinosaurs all come to life during it)

The menu is extensive. And they really aren't kidding when they say that the serving sizes are MAMMOTH! I decided to try the frozen fruit blend in the special souvenir cup. I'm a sucker for those souvenir cups. It's ridiculous how many I now have. The drink was more like a slushy than anything. And way too sweet for my liking however it is a very very hot day and was a good way to cool down.
Bone cup

And I went for the Saber-Tooth Salad with Grilled Chicken. It consisted of iceberg, romaine and mixed greens, with fresh pears, Gorgonzola cheese. pistachios, grapes, dried apricots, grilled chicken and apple chips in a white balsamic vinaigrette. I didn't actually find any pears or apricots in my salad, instead there were oranges. I didn't like the cheese or vinaigrette either. However, the bread on the side was lovely. And it was the only thing I managed to finish. I ended up taking most of the salad home (it went into two containers!!). And they rinsed out my cup so I could take it home without all of the sticky drink on the inside.
Saber-Tooth Salad. America has an issue with proportion sizes.
I've been taking Beaker on Disney adventures with me lately so he can be all Disneyfied when he goes home to my mum. I love how some of these photos turned out with his facial expressions and the dinosaurs!
